Hello guys,

it would be absolutly perfect, to have something like the wordpress or TYPO3 extension repository for piwik extensions.

I think the following features are needed: - login with trac account - registration of ext keys -> will be the same as the directory - reserved extnames for system extensions - remote installation - update notification in extension list

So we will need a server and a client part.

Todo for server part - extension repository browser - webservice versioncheck and download api (one way would be to downlaod the complete list of plugins and then check against the local list to respect privacy of the piwik users - other way like wordpress aks the webserver api for every plugin) - extensionkey registration and management

Todo for the client part - communication with the repository to check the version of installed extensions - upload of localy developed plugins to the repository with trac user credentials

I think most of the functionality could be integrated into CorePluginsAdmin and there is already done a lot. ;)

I hope this idea helps to improve piwik. If you need a very usable repository please have a look of the one implemented for TYPO3, perhaps the TYPO3 project gives you the chance to use parts of the TER code.

Best regards

Kay

I'm closing this and gathering requirements for both server and plugins in the ticket: #1116 - please write your comments and ideas there :)
